How do I arrange to have Gynecomastia surgery?

I feel I have a bad enough case of man boobs that surgery is my only option, but will I have a hard time convincing my doctor to refer me to a gynecomastia surgeon?

Can I just go and find a plastic surgeon who specializes in male liposuction and have him do the operation?

I know my health insurance policy won’t pay for the operation, since I am paying for the operation myself should I just shop around for the best price, or is this a risky situation. I want to save money on the operation if possible but I also don’t want to go to a “butcher” and have the operation go wrong.

I am trying to work out how much money I need to get together for the Gynecomastia surgery, and also how do I know that the surgeon I find is a good one?
